Inspired by the daring adventures of women characters and compelled by the brilliant works of women authors, Sirens is a conference dedicated to women in fantasy literature. The conference, both scholarly examination and professional retreat, welcomes academics, authors, professionals, and readers to attend—and provide varying perspectives on fantasy books by women, female characters in fantasy works, the market for fantasy by and about women, and how to support women in fantasy literature.
Our Guests of Honor in 2009, our inaugural year, include authors Tamora Pierce, Sherwood Smith, and Kristin Cashore, each of whom has written of strong, smart women warriors.
All Sirens registrations include access to all of our conference programming and events, including the three keynote presentations by our Guests of Honor and a conference T-shirt available only to attendees, as well as a dessert reception, two lunches and a breakfast.
Please feel free to contact us at help[AT]sirensconference[DOT]org. We're happy to answer any questions you might have.

'This convention is based on the idea that we would like to see Dumbledore's army meets Sauron's legions, where the Wicked Witch of the West and Merlin can be seen talking about magic at the bar. It is where war gamers and Cosplayers get to explore each others worlds. Don’t be surprised if you see Orc’s talking about the right sword grip with a Ninja while Elf’s watch from a distance and admit the Mermaids swimming in the pool.'
'"We dare not forget today that we are the heirs of that first revolution of Fantasy Conventions. Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friends and foes of Fantasy alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Fantasy Convention runners and we are coming to San Jose/Bay Area — born in the last century, tempered by Star Wars, disciplined by the Dragon Riders of Pern and hollowed in the bitter peace in which we denied of 'He who shall not be Named" could be back among us, proud of our ancient heritage of the One Ring that Ruled Us All — and unwilling to bear false witness against Elphaba, for we have taken comfort in flying monkey and little people – We hold these truths to self evident that all gamers are created equal, that only some War Hammers are bigger than others. We embrace our love of all Cosplayers, whether its a Wal-Mart special or home grown creation, all are welcomed and loved. For we will not allow the slow undoing of those human rights to a Fantasy Convention during the Thanksgiving Day Weekend to pass before us. This fellowship of Fantasy Fans will be committed to doing the best event for those who believe in magic, for we are committed today, to move forward, both at home and around the Bay Area, to make SorcererCon happen, for all to enjoy."

I've been fighting a losing battle with spammers the last few days and you can see it in the feeds. I set up Mollom to block spam con submissions, and for the most part it does. However, it's still letting things through and for some reason I cannot get the Moderation module to work the way it's supposed to.
So, until I have time to figure out what's going on, I'm turning off anonymous Con Submissions.
You can still register for an user account then submit a con that way. So for now, submit cons that way.
